Upgrading from Xp...

If I install Windows Vista over Windows XP Professional, will I lose my documents and installed programs?

Well, with BETA software there is always a risk, thats why it is important you back up any vital data before testing pre-released software, especially in upgrade scenarios. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "JOK3R" wrote in message

A backup is implied, of course.

Make sure you read the Backup section of the release notes - very important as I think if you upgrade from XP, it loses a lot of stuff - can't remember exactly, but the link to the DOC is on www.msblog.org... near the top :oP

Ok. I'll read this as soon as possible.

Thank you. Very useful. I'll not use External Hard Disks for backup...

Well, if you are backing up from XP, it shouldn't be a problem, just don't do the restoration in Vista. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "JOK3R" wrote in message
